Happy Veteran’s Day!

November 11th is a special day to honor the men and women who serve our country so we can enjoy our freedom each and every day. Veterans Day is celebrated this year on Saturday November 11th and is the national holiday to recognize the veterans, servicemen, and servicewomen who have fought to protect our country. Veterans Day originally was named “Armistice Day.” On Nov. 11, 1919, was the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance and Nov. 11 became a legal federal holiday beginning in 1938.We should take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate a veteran for serving and being a hero. Countless men and women have selflessly given us so much and it’s crucial to not forget that.

Not only do we need to remember the veterans and current members serving, but also their families. Veterans and families need to receive the support and recognition that they deserve. One of the most important things we can do is to show veterans the utmost respect. Take the time to listen to their stories because without them we would not have the freedom that we do today. There are many ways to show your appreciation to those who risk their lives to defend our freedom such as:

  • Just say thank you
  • Send a care package or letter
  • Participate in Veteran friendly programs such as building homes or rehabilitation programs
  • Volunteer at a VA Hospital
  • Help the homeless

On this Veteran’s Day, we salute our Veterans and are extremely thankful for their service. They are our relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers, and the committed to a cause larger than their own by accepting the challenge to defend our nation. Our Veterans put everything on the line to protect our freedom. Here at Spivey Insurance Group we are thankful and want to celebrate our Veterans this Saturday, November 11th.
