October Partner of the Month: Cindy’s Hope Chest & Core Compassion Project

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. By bringing awareness to breast cancer it gives people diagnosed with it hope and support. One out of every eight women will be affected by breast cancer in their lifetime. It is the leading cause of death for women. There is no prevention of breast cancer, but early detection can be lifesaving. Self-examinations and annual mammograms can increase survival rates.

What is breast cancer? Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. It is considered a heterogeneous disease. Tumors can grow in breasts for as long as 10 years without being noticed. There are different forms and stages of breast cancers.

We are very fortunate to have two organizations right here in Union County that helps and supports women who have been diagnosed and recovering from breast cancer. They are Cindy’s Hope Chest and Core Compassion Project. Below is more information about these local non-profits.

Cindy’s Hope Chest has a mission to support women battling breast cancer emotionally and financially. Their goal is to provide ways to educate, support, and encourage women while undergoing treatments. Here at Spivey Insurance Group we want to recognize all the breast cancer survivors and those still fighting this battle. Visit Cindy’s Hope Chest to see what services they provide and read more about how the organization helps the community.

Core Compassion Project help people strengthen the body, mind, and spirit through post-rehabilitative Pilates. They seek to help restore strength and mobility to cancer patients and/or survivors in a setting that offers a time to heal mentally and physically. Breast Cancer survivors are faced with many challenges. Core Compassion believes no one should have to fight these challenges alone. The Core Compassion Project comes alongside those personally affected to rejuvenate their mind, body and soul. Visit Core Compassion Project to see how this organization can help in the local community.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide. There are many organizations dedicated to research and saving lives of those diagnosed with breast cancer. This October we like to fight and remember for those loved ones that are helping with this long battle.
