How to Prepare your Car and Home for the Cold Weather

All over North Carolina over the next 7 days, we will be seeing one of the longest and coldest fronts this area has seen in awhile. Here at Spivey Insurance Group we want to make sure you are prepared for this colder weather moving in.

Preparing your car for the colder weather is one of the main priorities. Make sure to top off all your fluids, especially your oil, power steering fluid, and antifreeze. You’ll also want to check your tires and make sure your air pressure is over 32 PSI.

When preparing your home make sure to drain all fountains and exterior water fixtures. Always let at least one of your faucets drip to avoid freezing pipes. Buying a humidifier is something to consider if you are sensitive to dry air.

When preparing for yourself make sure to buy thermal gloves, a scarf, warm hat, and a warm winter jacket. This will help protect yourself if you are spending long amounts of time outside.

Here at Spivey Insurance we want to be here to protect you and your family during these cold winter days. If you have any questions regarding your home or auto policy during cold weather give us a call at 704-821- 4460 or connect with us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Google Plus.
